with Bavisha (K2 Caring 2) and Mom
Being at home does not mean that the children cannot get the new knowledge and experiences about the new things. On the celebration week of Diwali (Dipavali) Festival in India, our friend from K2-2 class, Bavisha and her Mom were sharing some interesting things about Diwali with all K2 children.

It began with some story about Lord Rama that came back to his hometown, Ayodhya, as the start of Diwali celebration in India. Bavisha’s mom shared the story with some great pictures that the children can enjoy about how Lord Rama lit up the city with various colors that followed the Indian people until now.
The sharing session then followed by questions and answer time! Some of the children answered the question that Bavisha’s mom gave about Diwali, such as the meaning of Diwali festival that was answered by Kayla as the festival of lights. Timothy also was able to answer most of the questions about the Lord Rama, followed by Jaken that mentioned the two things that they should have to celebrate this festival: the candles and lamps.

Jaken’s answer then made Bavisha’s mom show the children her Rangoli and some of the Diyas as the most important things that they use in the Diwali Festival. As for the Diyas, Bavisha also showed her favorite small Diyas and the flower shaped one that looks very pretty. The Diyas are usually put in the middle of Rangoli during the festival with various kinds of shapes.
The sharing session then closed with Ms. Vita’s question about the food that usually they eat during Diwali. Most of the people serve traditional India’s food, but the one that becomes everyone’s favorite is the sweets. Of course, the children like sweets and during Diwali, they can eat that kind of food.

This sharing session about Diwali Festival is one of our activities during the online school. Furthermore, we would like to have other activities, such as the End Year’s Virtual Concert that will be held in December. Please stay safe and enjoy at home!
